place in the world’s most famous galleries. This season, Prologue will put
women’s artistic ability on display as we explore the stories of female visual
artists from the past and connect you to Chicago’s thriving art community.
We begin this fall.
Dream of a Common Language

Oracle Theater, 3809 N. Broadway, Chicago
This lyrical and heart-rending drama draws a picture of a
dream deferred in an artist and her friends in 1870s France who are barred from
participating in the planning of the first Impressionist exhibition.

Progressive
staging in a historical Edgewater mansion allows the audience to follow
Margy Lamont, a sassy prostitute, from a night in Montreal's red light district through her escape to Trinidad to her bid for a straight life in a Westchester manor.
The original cast of the 1926 show was arrested for “corrupting the
morals of youth,” and Mae West herself was sentenced to ten days in
jail.
